The new Turatti steam peeler successfully removes the skins of root vegetables, vegetables, tomatoes, and several types of fruit without any (consequential) thermal damage to the product, allowing higher yield and reduced steam consumption. The removal of the skin or peel occurs precisely, following the contour and shape of the product. The Sahara operates at lower pressure levels than existing peeling systems, allowing the significant advantage of a better steam diffusion around the product. The result is a complete and more uniform peel, higher yield, and greater efficiency in energy consumption. The peeling and cleaning cycles are completely automated and are operated by a PLC. The unit is easy to clean and maintain, while meeting the most stringent safety requirements. The Sahara can be integrated into an existing peeling line, delivered with receiving and finishing units, or a complete Turatti processing line for tubers, fruits, or tomatoes.
