Ippolito: Treating the Spinach in a “Royal” Way
Ippolito Group BURLINGTON, ONTARIO, CANADA
Machinery: Eco Dryer
The last processing lines from Turatti are already setting new productivity and quality control benchmarks for the rest of the industry.
The Ippolito Group is and always has been a family run business, paying special attention to details, and holding product quality in the highest regard. In their ultra-modern plants near Toronto, they house several state-of-the-art processing lines that package commodities and leafy greens such as baby spinach, curly spinach, and spring mix. The leading Canadian group maintains three 100,000 square foot facilities to support an extensive line of fresh and packaged produce.
To ensure the highest quality of their delicate leafy products , Ippolito selected Turatti in the early 2000s to deliver a complete processing line, featuring one of their most advanced air dryers. This system helped the group to have a competitive advantage with a year-round top-quality product, especially during the challenging transitioning period, brought on by the change of seasons.
Due to the amazing results obtained by the first installed line, Turatti was again selected for the processing lines housed in the new facility that Ippolito built in 2016. The watchful eye of director of engineering Doug Alexander, who has over 30 years of extensive productions and process control experience, was instrumental in the renewed success of the latest plant.
Mr. Alexander states: “The last processing lines from Turatti are already setting new productivity and quality control benchmarks for the rest of the industry. Prior to selecting Turatti again, I had been visiting several competitors to evaluate the state of the industry, but none of them guaranteed the same performances and reliability. I visited numerous plants supplied by them in Europe, the US, and Japan, and quite simply the Ecodryer is the gentlest dewatering system available on the market.”
Like more than one hundred models from Turatti installed around the world, the Ecodryer can handle high-capacity needs with its continuous operation. Computerized control of all the main processing parameters (temperature, moisture level, etc.) allows optimization of the dewatering process based on the type of produce, as well as maximum control of operating costs and reduced energy consumptions.
